2021 Triumph Bonneville T120 Features – In case you’re excited about Steve McQueen, exemplary desert, motocross and ISDT hustling and Triumph Bonnevilles, you probably know the name Bud Ekins. Ekins was one of SoCal’s best racers in the 1950s and won various races at the Triumphs, including the Catalina Grand Prix on a TR5 Trophy. This gained a solid association with the British brand and the inevitable opening of Ekins’ North Hollywood Triumph vendor, which drew many celebrated on-screen characters during that time, including Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen.
Ekins made McQueen familiar with the desert, and their relationship in the long run made Ekins the trick-rider for 1962’s The Great Escape and led a Triumph 2021 TR6 Trophy in the famous bounce scene. This opened the notorious driveways and propelled Ekins’ profession as a Hollywood trick-rider. At the same time he remained devoted to Triumph.
Fast forward to 2020, and Triumph praises its longstanding association with the late Ekins by unloading two new bikes – Bud Ekins Bonneville T120 and T100 Special Editions 2020. When the remarkable Bonneville T120 first hit the features in 1959, it did as such at the beginning of a social turmoil led by a different age of young motorcyclists with a different sense of good faith, independence and opportunity.
